Illawarra Edible Garden Trail 2026
Description
Now in its fourth year, the Illawarra Edible Garden Trail has grown into a coast-wide celebration, spanning Wollongong, Shellharbour and Kiama.
Join us across two weekends as we explore this year’s theme, “Food for All”—celebrating native habitat gardens alongside backyard veggie patches, balcony & verge gardens, community spaces, school gardens, hobby farms, and everything in between!
The Trail will take place over two weekends
31 Oct – 1 Nov 2026: Helensburgh to West Wollongong
7 – 8 Nov 2026: Cringilla to Gerringong
The Trail is an opportunity to ask all those weird and wacky questions; how to raise chooks, what does it take to build soil, how do you choose the right varieties for your garden, what about endemic native foods, how to build the right structure fit for purpose, what grows well in shady spots, how to plant dwarf fruit tree, or just simply asking, what is this weed!? And maybe, is it edible?

FAQs
- What does my ticket give me access to?
General Admission tickets will give you access to all Gardens across both weekends! If there is just one garden that really speaks out to you, you can purchase an individual garden ticket for $5.
Last minute tickets can also be purchased at all Garden locations via a QR code if you're tagging along with a ticket holder who has access to the map.
- How do i access the garden trail map and garden addresses?
Garden map and event information is available to ticket holders only. This info will be sent to ticket holders shortly following ticket purchase, keep an eye out!
Note: You will have access to all gardens, however make note of which are open when - some gardens will be open both days, whilst others will be open Saturday OR Sunday.
- Will all gardens be open the entire two weekends?
No, we have split the trail across two weekends, with the following regions open over the following dates:
Gardens between Helensburgh and West Wollongong will be open Sat 31st Oct and Sunday 1st Nov 10am-3pm
Gardens between Cringilla and Gerringong will be open Sat 7th & Sun 8th Nov between 10am-3pm
