THINGS TO NOTE
Due to the limitations of the space, this is a ticketed event with allocated time slots. Your ticket gains you access for 2 hours. This is to create a comfortable space for people without overcrowding, allowing you time to meander, chat with the illustrators tabling at the event, enjoy some of the live painting or take part in our free collaborative wall.
There will be lots of goodies to purchase and you will be directly supporting local illustrators - thank you!
Both Tokyo Lamington and Australia Street Sandwich Shop will be operating on both days, so treat yourself to a hot drink and lamington or try one of their amazing sandwiches. The shopfronts will have limited seating as our artist tables will be here, but there is a grassy spot across the road, or a 5 minute walk around the corner takes you to Camperdown Park, which also has a children's playground.
HOW TO FIND US ON THE DAY
There will be some artist tables outside the front of Tokyo Lamington on Australia Street in Newtown, but most of our artist tables and live painting demonstrations will take place in Weeks Lane - essentially the back yards of the shopfronts. If you follow the laneway from the corner of Barmuda Cafe this brings you to Weeks Lane and the cute back garden yards, (situated directly behind Tokyo Lamington and Australia Street Sandwich Shop). There will be signage pointing you in the correct direction on the day.
FAQs
- WALK-INS ON THE DAY
This is a free event, but due to limited space capacity we are asking people to register a ticket. Walk-ins will be available but we will only allow 5-10 per time slot dependant on how busy the space is, so aim to book ahead.
- ACCESSIBILITY OF SPACE
We are taking over exisiting spaces behind the shopfronts of Tokyo Lamington and Australia Street Sandwich Shop. These are the shop back yards and are quite small and narrow - "cosy" if you will.
One of the garden areas has 3 small steps leading into it, the other is like a narrow garden lane.
We will do our best to manage people as comfortably as we can, but if you are bringing small children, you will not be able to bring a pram in with you when you enter the back garden spaces.
We will have someone monitoring people in and out of the space across both days.
We apologise to those who will miss out this time due to the limitations of the space. If you would like to know more please feel free to reach out to us directly.
