Illustration Pathway 2: Shade and Light
Event description
Welcome to Extra Curricular's Illustration Pathway!
While this is the second workshop in the course, you don't need to have attended the previous workshop to enjoy this one.
Over two hours, we'll:
Learn about shading and highlighting
Practice creating depth on game characters from Kirby, The Legend of Zelda and Minecraft. Any other characters you'd like to try are welcome too!
Play collaborative art games
Get feedback on any characters or projects you're working on
Please bring:
2B pencil/s (wooden pencils are preferred over mechanical)
Eraser
Sharpener
Paper or sketchbook
Required knowledge/skills:
While all beginners are welcome, you'll get the most out of this workshop if you're able to draw lines and shapes that aren't too wobbly/shaky.
If you'd like more practice and guidance with lines and shapes, please keep an eye out for the next cycle of our Shapes and Simple Game Characters workshop!
Useful Notes:
This workshop is limited to 10 participants to make sure our students can be fully involved, so please book early!
Our class culture emphasizes a low-ego environment - the best learning experiences happen when you feel comfortable enough to voice all your weird ideas and embarrassing questions (there are no embarrassing questions). Zero shame = maximum joyful learning
We value accessibility and inclusivity. Please let us know if you have any accessibility requirements, or requests to help us make this workshop a safe learning environment for you.
What's next?
This workshop will be followed by Illustration Pathway 3: Animal Shapes and Poses. You don't have to attend this workshop to attend the next.
