ABOUT THE FILM - IMAGINE

Fifteen-year-old Kim, overwhelmed by social media, is unexpectedly pulled into a surreal, multi-dimensional journey guided by a wise-cracking alien dog named Jeff. Facing a 24-hour deadline, Kim must navigate bizarre landscapes and encounter a cast of eccentric characters—from historical figures to cyborg shamans—to complete a quest for freedom and self-discovery. Their journey challenges Kim to confront past traumas, understand the interconnectedness of all life, and embrace the importance of playfulness and connection with nature, ultimately leading to a profound transformation and a newfound appreciation for the fragility and beauty of existence.

IMAGINE is a ground-breaking, co-created animated film blending Indigenous knowledge with cutting-edge technology. Following 15-year-old Kim and their alien canine companion Jeff, the story explores identity, freedom, and a world on the brink of collapse.

ABOUT TYSON YUNKAPORTA

Tyson Yunkaporta is an academic, an arts critic, and a researcher who belongs to the Apalech Clan in far north Queensland. He carves traditional tools and weapons and also works as a senior lecturer in Indigenous Knowledges at Deakin University in Melbourne. He is the author of Sand Talk, Right Story Wrong Story, and Snake Talk.

Tyson Yunkaporta looks at global systems from an Indigenous perspective. He asks how contemporary life diverges from the pattern of creation. How does this affect us? How can we do things differently?

Morag Gamble is the Founder and Director of the Permaculture Education Institute teaching permaculture educators and designers on six continents. She has lived for a quarter of a century in an award-winning ecovillage and has taught at leading ecological learning centres around the world, such as Schumacher College.

Morag is curator and host of the International Festival of Wild and Kind Ideas from May 20-25 where Tyson will be in conversation. She creates the Sense-Making in a Changing World Podcast, and the Our Permaculture Life BLOG and YouTube - collectively viewed millions of times. She hosts the International Permaculture Festival of Ideas and the Ethos Fellowship alongside Schumacher College Fellow, Fritjof Capra. She is also the Director of Ethos Foundation- a registered charity offering free permaculture education for refugees.
