Immersia 2024: A Glimpse of India - Silambam Workshop by ACT Desi

Event description

ACT Desi, a community organisation in Canberra, brings to you A Glimpse of India – a vibrant showcase of rich multicultural diversity of India.

This year we present an ancient Indian Martial Art form workshop as part of Immersia 2024, hosted by the ANU School of Culture, History & Language.

Known as SILAMBAM, this martial art form originated in the southern part of India in Tamil Nadu and was primarily used for self-defence.

Learn a few defence techniques to boost your self-confidence or just come and sample the impressive show of skills by Aishwarya and Ananth, dedicated students and promoters of this art form in Australia.

Did you know?

This ancient Indian martial art form is believed to be over 3,000 years old.

Join us to experience the 'martial mastery' of Silambam and uncover its rich history!

Note: Wear comfortable clothing.
