Immersia 2024: Asia-Pacific Lives
Event description
In collaboration with the ANU National Centre of Biography (NCB), the ANU School of Culture, History & Language (CHL) presents Asia-Pacific Lives, a free exhibition, as part of the School's annual flagship multicultural festival and showcase program Immersia.Â
Drawing on the many volumes of the Australian Dictionary of Biography – the nation’s premier biographical reference tool, in production since 1959 – Asia-Pacific Lives showcases some of the individuals whose stories reveal the myriad connections between Australia and the Asia-Pacific region. From a Chinese businesswoman and matriarch to a Tongan Methodist minister and Pacific Islands historian, this exhibition will introduce visitors to just some of the fascinating, little-known, and important people whose lives are captured in the Australian Dictionary of Biography (ADB).Â
