Event description

Impact Investing Hub is hosting an impact investing series for social enterprises, not-for-profits, foundations, institutional and impact investors and professional advisors. This series aims to enhance understanding and practical applications of impact investing:


SESSIONS

1. Impact Investing 101 | Friday 1st November, 12.00PM - 1.00PM AEDT

  • Gain an understanding of impact investing as an approach and how it differs from traditional investment, philanthropy and other responsible and ethical investment approaches.
  • Learn about the global and Australian market landscape.
  • Explore case studies of different impact investments and get access to a range of resources to support investors and investees to raise capital.

2. Getting the Right Capital at the Right Time | Friday 8th November, 12.00PM - 1.00PM AEDT

  • Learn how to identify the right investors and types of capital for impact organisations.
  • Understand the range of impact investors in the market and the different investment approaches.
  • Explore case study of enterprises who've successfully raised different types of capital at different times of their evolution.

        3. What Do Impact Portfolios Look Like? | Friday 15th November, 12.00PM - 1.00PM AEDT

        • Understand how different entities—such as family offices, foundations, and not-for-profits—structure and manage diversified impact portfolios.
        • Learn how impact portfolios can be designed to align with the specific missions and values of each entity, including risk tolerance, return expectations, and measurable social and environmental outcomes.
        • Explore case studies of different portfolios.

            Jessica Mendoza-Roth | Founder & CEO at Social Impact Hub

            Jessica is the Founder and CEO of the Social Impact Hub. The Social Impact Hub advises, educates, collaborates and mobilises capital for impact. Jessica is also a consultant to the impact investment sector, having served as the Impact Strategist for Blue River Group, an independent impact investment services firm, and opened the Sydney office of Impact Investment Group. Previously, Jessica was a Solicitor at King & Wood Mallesons in Sydney. She holds a B.A. and LL.B. (with First Class Honours) from UNSW and a LL.M. from Harvard Law School, where she was the recipient of the R.G. Menzies Scholarship to Harvard, and she studied social entrepreneurship, philanthropy and impact investing.

            Michael van Niekerk | Professional Impact Network member, Social Impact Hub; Strategic & Financial Advisor, Forever Wild 

            Michael has over 30 years of experience in roles within large complex corporates across the media, financial services and retail sectors, working with the most senior level executives and their teams. He specialises in Impact Investing, Responsible Investment (RI), Corporate Sustainability, financial management, and superannuation, wealth and asset management strategy. Michael holds a Masters of Sustainability Leadership from the University of Cambridge, an MBA from Monash University, and a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) in Economics from the University of Cape Town. He is also a Certified Practicing Accountant (ASCPA), AICD and FINSIA.


            Claudia Limpert | Enterprise Development Manager, Social Impact Hub

            Claudia is an experienced business adviser and project manager with 8+ years experience in the social impact sector, and leads the Impact Investing Hub initiative at Social Impact Hub. After graduating from the University of Bristol she took part in the Worthwhile UK Graduate Scheme which launched her career working at for-purpose organisations. Since then, she has worked extensively with social entrepreneurs and enterprises in the UK through all stages of establishing and growing a social enterprise, charity or co-operative and is a self-professed social enterprise nerd. She has grant-writing and fundraising experience in the UK and Australia, in particular through philanthropic funds, crowdfunding and impact investment.
