Impact of COVID-19 on sport for athletes with disability
Event description
COVID-19 restrictions have had a profound impact sports participation – for everyone. Competitions have been cancelled, training disrupted and funding lost. For many athletes with disability COVID-19 has been particularly challenging, with preparations for Tokyo 2020 now extended to 2021. But athletes with disabilities are experts at adapting – so how have they responded to the current challenges? What lies ahead and what can we expect in the months ahead.
In Think Tank 8 Paralympics Australia CEO Lynne Anderson will discuss the implications of COVID-19 on athletes with disability. Lynne is the Chief Executive of Paralympics Australia and has been recognised as the best leader in Australian sport, earning the Award for Leadership at the Australian Institute of Sport Sport Performance Awards in 2019.
