Creating impact from research is an ultra-marathon, not a sprint. It’s more important than ever to build a strong community of impact-focused Australian researchers who will inspire, support, mentor and encourage one another on their journeys to unlock the potential of their amazing research to make a difference in the world.
Cruxes Innovation is very excited to announce the next event in our Impact Pathfinders series, where the community of impact-focused researchers will gather to hear from leaders in the field.
The Impact Pathfinders events are designed to de-mystify the pathways and processes researchers take to create impact and share experiences of researchers who have created real-world impact through their research, and are continuing to do so.

Our speaker will be Dr Jessica Allen from the University of Newcastle, an ARC DECRA 2021 fellow. Jessica is reinventing the way we produce energy and materials. As an electrochemist and engineer, she applies her expertise to future-critical technologies including fuel cells and batteries. Join us to hear Jessica share what she has learned about pursuing an impact-focused research career by engaging with industry.
Jessica's talk will include her insights on these topics:
- What was the key to finding and engaging the first industry collaborator for her research?
- How does she shape her research priorities to meet both 'traditional' metrics in academia and aspirations for impact and translation?
Impact Pathfinders events will be run quarterly, with a different guest speaker each time. The events will be one-hour webinars, with this format:
- Our guest speaker will share their stories and what they have learned (20 minutes)
- Followed by 20 minutes of Q&A
- The final 20 minutes will be informal networking in breakout rooms.
Who is this event for?
The Impact Pathfinders events are for Australian researchers in any field who want to make a difference in the world with their research. They are particularly aimed at mid-career researchers with an established place in the research community who are thinking about focusing the remainder of their careers on generating impact.
We will be limiting the number of participants to this event to maintain the quality of engagement for those involved. So get in now to save yourself a spot!
