Event description

Please join us on 15 June at 6pm, for an opportunity to hear from our 2022 grant recipients and find out first-hand how your donation is changing the lives of vulnerable communities in Sydney.

Last year, The Reconnect Project, a dynamic new charity was awarded our major grant for its Australia-first initiative.

The Reconnect Project was funded to deliver traineeships and work experience in mobile phone repair to 25 young people with neurological or psychosocial disabilities. The program will give them the skills for future employment through a supportive learning environment.

Founder of The Reconnect Project, Annette Mayne said: "Receiving $100,000 means we can train young people to repair mobile phones and give them employment pathways, while delivering phones to people who really need them."  The trainees will repair and distribute 1,000 mobile devices to disadvantaged families in Sydney. The long-term goal is to grow the training centre into an Australian Disability Enterprise, generating employment and on-going income to The Reconnect Project’s mission.

We will be joined by Annette Mayne, CEO of the Reconnect Project to hear how the program has been rolled out, as well as a one the Reconnect Project participants Ben, and his mum Amanda.

Hearing back from last year's grant recipient is always a wonderful opportunity to connect with other donors.  You are welcome to bring a friend (or more!) so they too can gain a greater insight into the Impact100 Sydney process, and connect with like-minded people keen to support their community.

Tickets are $20 per person.

About Us:

The Impact 100 model is simple. 100 donations of $1,000 are combined to raise $100,000 each year and granted to an organisation that can have a real and measurable impact for our city.

Now in it's 7th year in Sydney, it's one of the fastest growing movements in philanthropy, and for good reason - your donation goes 100 times further through the power of collective giving, and you have a direct say in where the money goes.  To learn more about Impact100 Sydney or to become a member, please visit www.impact100sydney.org.au

Impact100 Sydney is a sub-fund of the Sydney Community Foundation.
