Event description

Join our free Science 7–10 workshop to support the implementation of the new WA Curriculum 2.0 in 2026 and help you prepare students for success in senior years by building science inquiry skills.  

Hosted by expert teacher and author Dr Siew Yap and Oxford’s local Education Consultants, this workshop will include:  

  • an overview of key changes to the content and assessment of the new curriculum – what’s in, what’s out, what’s moved  
  • practical tips, advice, and a selection of ready-to-use resources that will help you save time and implement the new curriculum with confidence 
  • a sneak peek at our brand-new Science 7–10 resources coming for 2026, which are fully updated to align to curriculum objectives and incorporate key learning design principles, with an explicit focus on the acquisition of science skills 
  • a demonstration of the new features and functionality on the all-new Oxford Digital, including comprehensive support such as expertly crafted lesson plans, TLAPs, market-leading assessment, tracking, and reporting tools and our new live-lesson mode, allowing real-time, accessible digital lesson delivery with students  

Each attendee will receive: 

• a FREE copy of Oxford Science 7–10 Western Australian Curriculum Year 7 Student Book (available upon publication)

Meet the presenter

Dr Siew Yap

Dr Siew Yap (PhD Science Education)

Siew is a teaching and research academic of Curtin University and the Honorary Teaching Fellow of University of Western Australia. In addition to her ongoing research, she is actively training pre-service teachers. She is passionate about science education, bioethics and values education, having served as Head of Science in an independent sector for almost two decades. She was a WACE examiner and independent reviewer of ATAR Human Biology exam at the School Curriculum Standards Authority (Western Australia).  She is the co-author of Oxford Science Western Australian Curriculum Year 7 – 10 textbooks (1st and 2nd Editions). Her book publications include ‘A Teacher’s Guide to Teaching Science and Religion in the Classroom’, `The Art of Teaching Science’ and `Classroom Teaching Strategies in Bioethics education’. Her latest publication includes ‘Biology Foundations Year 10 Pathway Study Guide’. She has also served on the Advisory Board of LASAR, Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Education, Canterbury Christ Church University, United Kingdom.
