Improv 101 Workshop
Event description
IMPROV 101 Workshop presented by Alphabet City Laughs Productions@ Rainbow Den Studio in DUMBO, Brooklyn.
This improv 101 workshop will define what improv is and what a scene requires to be funny. Learn the fundamentals of how to create a character in the moment. Practice navigating teamwork and listening. Laughter comes best naturally, not by forcing ideas. By the end of the workshop you will have a stronger understanding of:
- character development
- scene painting
- story arch / conflict
- standard improv formats
- physical comedy
The goal of the workshop is to leave with the skills to create a character and find purpose in a scene.
“Gain the tools of improv, character and scene building. Identify the funny point of view as a group. Being a part of a team is so much fun when you learn how to create chemistry together.” -Teacher: Darren Saad (he/they/she)
Darren has been improvising for 10 years and completed advanced studies in improv. They have been an acting & improv coach for two years and recently began instructing workshops.
Note: This is an intensive 3 hour workshop. It is important to arrive on time. Water and restrooms are available at the studio.
