Improv Co-Lab Leeds: guest teacher Terje Brevik
Event description
Improv Co-Lab Leeds presents: a workshop with guest teacher Terje Brevik
Terje Brevik is a professional teacher and performer of improvisational theater from from Oslo, Norway - the land of trolls, fjords and the midnight sun. He’s the founder of Tøyen Impro and the Short Notice Improv Festival. Terje has 10+ years of experience teaching and performing internationally. He’s studied with Keith Johnstone, at the Annoyance and iO in Chicago, the Pack Theater in Los Angeles.
He teaches improv to people who want to do improv and people who don’t want to do improv. The tools, methodology and skill sets of improvised theater are not exclusive to the theater stage; they can be translated, explored and applied by everyone looking to improve their ability to communicate, collaborate and be creative.
- This workshop is open to everyone - no experience required, all levels welcome.
- 6pm is a soft start to allow for travel/traffic - you can arrive between 6 and 7pm.
In his work, Terje uses the very same tools himself to facilitate playful learning experiences in a fun, inclusive and safe way. His style of teaching has earned him the nickname “the Navy SEAL of psychological safety”.
His ideas, style and preferences come from a broad and diverse range of sources. He considers himself very lucky and privileged to have studied with Keith Johnstone, at the Annoyance, iO Theater, Loose Moose, the Pack theater and many more (yet he learns the most from his students).
What to expect
Terje has offered a selection of workshop themes which you can vote on once you’ve bought a ticket. Some options include:
