Improv-ing Your Poetry

Improv-ing Your Poetry, a generative writing workshop
Free Virtual Writing Workshop

Join Lucky Jefferson and Ana Reisen for a free 1.5-hour virtual writing workshop designed for writers interested in using improv to write poetry.

What do improv comedy and poetry have in common? More than you might think. Join poet and professor Ana Reisen for a playful, judgment-free workshop that brings the spontaneous energy of improvisation into the world of poetry, just in time for National Poetry Month.

Through a series of guided exercises rooted in the traditions of poetic improvisation, participants will use the core principles of improv, "yes, and," collaboration, and free association to unlock their creative instincts and generate original poems on the spot. No experience necessary. All you need is something to write with and an open mind.

Date: Saturday, April 18th
Time: 10AM-11:30AM CT / 11-12:30PM ET
Location: Virtual (Zoom link provided upon registration)
