The Department of Health is holding a series of webinars to share information about the aged care reforms announced in the 2021-22 Budget and in response to the Aged Care Royal Commission.

These webinars are an opportunity for anyone who uses or needs aged care, who works in aged care or who has an interest in improving aged care in Australia to learn more about the reforms.

Webinars will include presentations from the Hon Greg Hunt MP, Minister for Health and Aged Care, and Senator the Hon Richard Colbeck, Minister for Senior Australians and Aged Care Services, as well as presentations and panel discussions by senior officials from the Department of Health.

Improving outcomes for First Nations people in aged care

This webinar is for aged care workers and providers who deliver services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who use and need aged care, and their families and carers.

Aged care reforms include changes and initiatives to improve access to culturally safe services and to improve the accessibility of and outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait People in aged care.

Find out how the reforms will help to:

    • involve Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in designing their services and care
    • ensure culturally safe services and care are available to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people no matter where they live
    • enhance the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander aged care workforce.

We’ll also ask you questions about how we can best work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, families, carers and communities, health services, aged care providers and the workforce to make positive changes.
