IMRT CIWG | Optimising Maintenance stores & systems | Hosted online by Opal Australian Paper
Event description
A well-organized maintenance store directly contributes to lowering business cost. Having the right parts in the store, the right number of parts on hand, bin locations, reorder quantities set builds confidence in the maintenance team. Rationalising down to the right number of parts lowers the financial outlay tied up in the parts store and helps maintenance to be seen as a value add department.
What does holding all of your maintenance inventory cost you? What does NOT holding a critical item cost you? How do you decide what to hold? Often we over estimate how much stock we actually need - on one hand this can lead to excessive monitoring of inventory, and on the other it can even lead to unnecessary maintenance as machines break down because the spares had deteriorated while waiting to be used! Of course, the opposite is also true - cut the inventory levels too deep, and you end up with downtime that you can't afford!
It is really important to take into account things like, criticality, rotable spares, lead time for delivery, part quality (OEM or not OEM), correct storage to keep the parts in good condition so they are ready when required. This workshop will have Opal Australian Paper share on their experience of optimising their maintenance spares and stores, their insights and learnings on the system they used for the considerable success they have achieved.
This Common Interest Work Group will also provide an opportunity to learn and share knowledge and experiences with others in industry. It provides the opportunity to understand what are people’s experiences and what processes are being used to optimise maintenance spares and stores.
