IMSTA FESTA Miami 2025 - Verses & Bridges: Making a Song From The Hook - Ana Paz
Event description
3 PM | Verses & Bridges: Making a Song From The Hook - Ana Paz
Overview: You've got the chorus. Now what? Verses & Bridges: Making a Song from the Chorus is a songwriting masterclass focused on expanding a strong hook into a complete and emotionally satisfying song. Many writers start with the big idea — the chorus — but get stuck building the story, structure, and pacing around it. This session offers strategies to reverse-engineer your song, giving depth and development to the verses and bridges that lead to — and away from — your most powerful section.
Speaker: Ana Paz is a Miami-bred alt-pop singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist celebrated for her angelic vocals, live-looped harmonies, and polyrhythmic grooves that fuse jazz, Afro-Latin, and art-pop influences à la Radiohead, Esperanza Spalding, and Moses Sumney. Launching her professional journey in 2021, she has already graced stages with Cuban piano virtuoso Alfredo Rodriguez and Brazilian bass innovator Munir Hossn (appearing on his 2023 Munir Hossn & Elas live album) and starred in the 2023 single/video “Despiadado Corazón” with CES. Back-to-back Miami Individual Artist Grants (2024-25) fund her debut EP surrender—a three-song meditation on grief that showcases her signature layers of voice, keys, guitar, and percussion. Onstage, Paz mesmerizes audiences by building lush, looping soundscapes in real time.
