In Conversation: Cross-Material Collaboration
Description
Join us for an honest conversation about what happens when artists step outside their own material practice and place part of their creative vision in the hands of another maker.
Held alongside Lynda Draper’s exhibition GR’AFT, this panel brings together Lynda, sculptor and performance artist Jacqueline Bradley, interdisciplinary artist and designer April Phillips, and Canberra Glassworks Director Aimee Frodsham. Each brings a different perspective and first-hand experience of working across materials and specialist processes.
Together, they will talk about the trust, negotiation, challenges and unexpected outcomes that come with collaboration. From ceramics meeting hot glass to working with bronze casting, the conversation will take us behind the making of GR’AFT and explore how sharing skills and knowledge can create work that no one artist could make alone.
The panel will take place on Thursday 15 October at 5:30 pm, in the Hotshop, followed by drinks and informal discussion. Presented in partnership with the Canberra Art Biennial
