In Conversation: Pacific climate justice at the International Court of Justice
Event description
On 23 July, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) delivered an historic Advisory Opinion on the Obligations of States in respect of Climate Change.
Alofipo So’oalo Fleur Ramsay played an integral role in the ICJ case, supporting Samoa’s submission as external legal counsel, as well as working with Blue Ocean Law, a Guam based Indigenous-led law firm, representing Vanuatu and Melanesian Spearhead Group. Alofipo travelled around Melanesia collecting testimony from communities who are facing devastation from climate change.
In this webinar, Alofipo will share her perspective on the submissions made to the ICJ in this landmark legal case, and the implications of the court's findings. This is a very timely conversation, not to be misssed.
