In Conversation with Dr John Falzon
Event description
Dr John Falzon is described as a "poet, sociologist, author and theologian". He is Senior Fellow, Inequailty and Social Justice at Per Capita. A strong and committed social justice advocate he was National CEO of St Vincent de Paul Society in Australia from 2006 to 2018. He is a member of the Australian Services Union.
John will talk about how we can continue to fight for social justice amid the COVID pandemic, while ensuring we look after ourselves and those around us. Taking as his theme "Solidarity is the tenderness of the people" John will discuss how we, deep in the guts of the crisis, can give, and take, comfort in simple acts of solidarity, and will ask what does this teach us about re-imagining the future?
The evening will enable those of us attending to pose our questions to John, and for us all to engage in discussion about how we can engage meaningfully with the issues we care deeply about.
