Wagga Wagga Talk Two: In conversation with Lucy Nelson

Stella Day Out is an event series by The Stella Prize, celebrating Australia’s best women and non-binary writers.

Proudly hosted at Wagga Wagga City Library, this free session is an exciting opportunity to hear from an award-winning author.

Lucy Nelson is an award-winning writer living on unceded Dharawal Country. Her first book Wait Here (Summit Books, Simon & Schuster) was longlisted for the 2026 Stella Prize and shortlisted for the 2026 Matt Richell Award, the UTS Glenda Adams Award and the Steele Rudd Award. Her work has been published in Meanjin, The Monthly, Kill Your Darlings, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Big Issue, Southword and elsewhere.

She has received the Newcastle Short Story Award, the Writing NSW Varuna Fellowship, the Templeberg Fellowship from Writers Victoria and was shortlisted for the Seán Ó Faoláin International Short Story Competition. Lucy has been a guest panelist at the Bangalore Literature Festival in India, the Asia Pacific Writers and Translators Network in Macau, China and numerous Australian Writers’ Festivals.
