In Conversation with Sam Koslowski & Zara Seidler
On demand
What does it take to flip the script on how young Australians consume news?
Sam Koslowski and Zara Seidler, the co-founders of The Daily Aus (TDA), will join The Ethics Centre’s Dr Simon Longstaff AO for a candid conversation about how they built one of the most influential youth media platforms in the country.
Back in 2017, they were two 20-somethings fed-up with the way news was presented to young Australians – so they launched something different. TDA is a news outlet that is independent, social-first and employs young people to write news for young people. Today, it reaches over 2 million people a month, and for most of their audience (mostly under 30), it’s their main source of news.
This conversation will dig into what it’s really been like behind the scenes – the risks, the wins, the moments of doubt, the difficult decisions and the ethics of it all. Together they'll unpack the big issues young people care about today, from global chaos to crumbling trust in politics and the media and explore how this generation might just be shaping a new path forward.
The Ethics Centre’s ‘In Conversation with…’ series is an intimate opportunity to examine contemporary issues we are grappling with – and perhaps see things from a different perspective.
Event livestream will be available to watch on demand for up to 14 days post the event.
