It is a monthly, online session where we bring professional migrant women to share their experiences and insights into navigating the Australian professional landscape. Featuring a different guest from a different sector each month, you'll have the chance to learn from a variety of perspectives and industries.

Our Guest Speakers

We are excited to have Hazel Rice, former Teacher and long time friend and volunteer.

A little bit about Hazel:

Hazel started her career as a French and Spanish teacher in the UK. She have taught English as a Second Language in Spain, Malaysia, Brunei and Australia as well as short term contracts in France, China, Myanmar, Thailand and Saudi Arabia.

Hazel moved to Melbourne in 1990. She was lucky to find a casual job at Box Hill Institute where she ended up working for 25 years. For 16 years she ran a successful employment program with a practical work placement component for Skilled Migrant Professionals. She has worked with migrants, refugees and asylum seekers teaching English and job seeking skills.

Now retired, Hazel teaches an annual English Language Methodology workshop in Thailand on a voluntary basis. In Melbourne she continue to support job seekers to improve their interview techniques and application documents. 

About This Session

Event Flow:

• We'll kick off with a warm welcome from our facilitator, followed by a quick round of 2-minute introductions from all participants.

• Our guest speaker will then share their professional journey in a 15–20 minute style talk with the facilitator. This is a great moment to listen, reflect, and note any questions.

• A 30-minute interactive Q&A will follow, where you can ask all your burning questions and gain valuable insights.

We encourage you to turn your cameras on to create a more dynamic and engaging conversation! The session will take place on Zoom, so make sure you have a stable internet connection and a quiet space.
