In Flow with the Birds: A Mindful Bird Photography Walk
Event description
In Flow with the Birds: A Mindful Bird Photography Walk
Location: Laratinga Wetlands, Mount Barker
Time: 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM
Begin your morning immersed in the soft light and birdsong of Laratinga Wetlands on this slow and mindful bird photography walk. Designed to help you reconnect with nature through stillness and creative observation, this experience invites you to step into the rhythm of the birds and photograph with intention.
Led by Amanda Vallance, founder of Avian Adventures Australia, this three-hour walk blends beginner-friendly photography guidance with bird behaviour insights and gentle mindfulness techniques. You’ll learn how to slow down, read the landscape, anticipate moments, and use your camera to capture not just what you see but what you feel.
The walk takes place during the golden hours of early morning, when the light is soft and birdlife is most active. Through quiet pauses, guided reflection, and simple techniques for light, focus, and composition, you’ll build your skills while deepening your connection to the natural world.
At the end of the walk, we’ll gather by the water for a shared morning tea, a relaxed chat, and a chance to reflect on the experience.
