    Event description

Join us for a film screening of the documentary 'In My Blood it Runs'. Dir. Maya Newell (2019).

Acclaimed for its powerful storytelling, this documentary follows 10-year-old Dujuan, a vibrant Arrernte/Garrwa boy, as he navigates the struggles of life in Alice Springs. Through Dujuan’s eyes, we witness the challenges he faces both within the education system and on the streets, offering a deeply personal look into his family’s journey.

Our team recently had the privilege of screening this impactful documentary in the West Bank for a Palestinian audience. We are now excited to share it in Naarm, fostering essential conversations about the ongoing struggles faced by First Nations communities in Australia. All proceeds from this film screening will be directly donated to The Dhadjowa Foundation and to fund Made in Palestine’s first project of 2025, supporting a Palestinian family in the West Bank.

The Dhadjowa Foundation supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families whose loved ones have tragically died in custody, offering strategic and culturally appropriate care.

Our first project of 2025 aims to provide financial aid to a Palestinian family in the Dheisheh Refugee Camp, ensuring their children can access education and hope for a brighter future.

Join us at this screening, held before Invasion Day, to deepen our understanding of the systemic injustices faced by First Nations communities and to reflect on the significance of 26 January. This is an opportunity to learn, engage, and amplify the voices of the true custodians of the land as we all continue to fight for justice and self-determination. The screening will be followed by a community discussion.
