The event is a 3-day hands-on masterclass from Friday October 25th - Sunday October 27th, 2024, led by Tissue Culture Expert and Lab Director with over 13 years of experience, Francisco Palacios, and the Plant Cell Technology team. The event is open to growers, dispensary owners, enthusiasts, and anyone interested in learning about tissue culture in the cannabis industry.
Tissue culture media preparation is an essential aspect of plant development in tissue culture, and the seminar provides instructions, ingredients, and a list of materials required to prepare the media. Participants will learn about macro and micronutrients, vitamins, organic compounds, pH levels, pressure cookers, laminar flood hoods, and how to fill culture vessels. They will also learn about plant hormones and their importance in tissue culture.
The masterclass covers cannabis micropropagation, including induction, sterilization techniques, plant cutting, and explant preparation. Participants will learn about the different equipment and tools used in tissue culture and how to use them effectively.
Furthermore, the masterclass offers information on cutting-edge technology like meristem dissection and long-term storage solutions. Participants will learn how to use synthetic seeds to store cannabis for a longer time. The event aims to equip attendees with the skills and knowledge needed to start a cannabis tissue culture business successfully.
Accurate media preparation is necessary to promote the development of plants in tissue culture. And, in the lack of accessible information on suitable media for Cannabis tissue culture, we are going to give you access to this and more in this seminar, including:

- Intro to Pressure Cooker for Tissue Culture: Expand your knowledge of different types of pressure cookers and their uses in labs. And how to decide which one’s the best suited for your work.
- Intro to Laminar Flood Hood: Have you heard about this machine but are unsure what it is and why it’s important for tissue culture? Get all the answers related to the equipment in this masterclass.
- TC Hormones 101: Do not know how plant hormones work and how they can be used in tissue culture? No worries, because here we will cover what they are, their types, natural and synthetic hormones, and how they are essential to tissue culture.
- Intro to Vessel Filling: Learn the best practices of dispensing media in culture vessels and what amount will be ideally based on their sizes.
Overall, this section of the master class will provide students with a solid foundation of knowledge on the principles of tissue culture and the skills to prepare tissue culture media for cannabis. Students will learn how to make their own media with the appropriate nutrients and hormones necessary for successful plant growth in tissue culture.
During the Plant Selection, Leaf and Node Sterilization section of the cannabis tissue culture master class, students will learn how to select and prepare the plant material for tissue culture. This section will cover the selection of the best plants for tissue culture and the techniques for cleaning and sterilizing plant leaves and nodes before introducing them into tissue culture.
- Plant Selection:
- Learn how to select the best plants for tissue culture.
- Understand the importance of selecting disease-free plants and those with desirable traits.
- Learn how to collect plant material such as leaves and nodes without damaging them.
- Leaf and Node Sterilization:
- Learn about the different sterilization techniques used in tissue culture, such as using bleach, ethanol, or other chemicals.
- Understand the importance of using sterile conditions and equipment during the sterilization process to avoid contamination.
- Learn how to clean and sterilize plant leaves and nodes before introducing them into tissue culture.
Overall, this section of the master class will provide students with the knowledge and skills to select and prepare the best plant material for tissue culture while ensuring a sterile environment to avoid contamination.
During the Cannabis Micropropagation part of the master class, the students will learn how to propagate cannabis plants using tissue culture techniques. The topics covered will include:
- Induction: The experts will teach the students how to induce Cannabis growth in tissue culture. This involves the use of plant growth hormones and proper environmental conditions to promote plant development.
- Intro to Sterilization: Proper sterilization techniques are crucial for success in Cannabis micropropagation. Students will learn the appropriate methods for surface sterilization of plant material to eliminate contaminants.
- Plant Cuttings 101: Cutting plant material correctly is important to avoid damaging the explants. The experts will teach the students how to properly cut and handle plant material to obtain clean and viable explants for tissue culture.
- Explant Preparation (Clean & Contaminated Plants Techniques): Students will learn how to obtain clean and healthy plant tissues and prepare them for introduction into tissue culture, as well as how to handle contaminated plant material to prevent contamination in the culture.
- Bonus: Introduction to Tissue Culture Equipment: To start strong in their Cannabis tissue culture business, it is important to be familiar with the equipment and tools used. The experts will provide a bonus session to introduce the students to tissue culture equipment and their uses.
During this part of the cannabis tissue culture master class, the students will learn about the process of subculturing and resterilizing contaminated cultures in order to maintain healthy and viable plant cells for micropropagation. Specifically, the students will:
- Learn about the importance of subculturing and resterilizing in maintaining healthy plant cell cultures for micropropagation.
- Understand the steps involved in subculturing and resterilizing cultures, including the use of aseptic techniques to prevent contamination.
- Practice subculturing and resterilizing techniques on contaminated cultures under the guidance of the experts leading the master class.
- Learn how to identify and troubleshoot common issues that can arise during subculturing and resterilization, such as bacterial or fungal contamination.
- Develop a deeper understanding of the best practices for maintaining and managing plant cell cultures to ensure successful micropropagation.
Cannabis tissue culture is not easy. And when it comes to adding plant hormones, you must know what hormone, in what concentration, and how to add it to obtain the best results. Grab this secret from the industry experts in this only masterclass.
- Introduction to Meristem Dissection: Meristems are a type of plant tissue consisting of undifferentiated cells. Learn how they can be used for virus elimination in infected plants and obtain clean clones.
- Meristem Dissection Procedures: It needs some hands-on experience to cut meristem out of plants without damaging the tissues. Learn how exactly to do it from the experts in the industry in this masterclass.
