Event description

Aditya Ryan Bhat presents In-roads, an exploration of the seldom-heard Hungarian cimbalom: an extended foray into the sonic potentialities of a folk instrument, removed from a folk context, where acoustic, electronic, psychological, political, historical & poetical forces emerge, intersect, connect & diffract.

These are untravelled musical paths, and this is a rare opportunity to wander down them.

Hawthorn Arts Centre is at the corner of Glenferrie and Burwood Roads, a short walk from Glenferrie Station, where almost all Lilydale, Belgrave and Alamein trains stop. The number 16 tram also stops at the opposite corner of the intersection. If travelling by car, there is a large parking area behind the building. Entry is via Burwood Road, and the Chandelier Room (where In-roads will be held) is off the right side of the foyer.

This project has been supported by: the Australian National Academy of Music, the City of Boroondara, the Robert Salzer Foundation, as well as numerous generous private donors via the Australian Cultural Fund.
