Jordache Gage (b. 1989, Brisbane) is a self-taught Abstract Surrealist artist with over a decade of experience across gallery exhibitions and large-scale public art. Of Māori, Filipino, and English descent, and raised in Australia following his family’s migration from Aotearoa (New Zealand), Gage’s practice is grounded in cultural complexity, ancestral memory, and spatial awareness.
Working with synthetic polymer, oil, and aerosol, Gage explores the emotional and psychological dimensions of space—focusing on time, movement, and the interplay between natural and built environments. His abstract compositions are created through expressive mark-making, layering, and a refined use of colour to evoke depth, rhythm, and perspective.
Emerging from a background in drawing, graffiti, and urban visual culture, Gage has developed a distinctive aesthetic influenced by abstraction, cubism, futurism, and post-graffiti. His studio practice runs parallel to a strong commitment to community engagement, particularly with First Nations and Māori youth at risk. Through public art, mentorship, and workshops, he facilitates creative skill-building as a form of cultural empowerment and belonging.
Gage’s work is held in public and private collections and continues to shape contemporary conversations around identity, cultural sovereignty, and place within the Australian art landscape.
