Brisbane-based artist Leigh Schoenheimer is a contemporary multidisciplinary practitioner working across painting and sculpture. Her conceptually driven work has been widely exhibited and regularly shortlisted in major national art awards.
In her painting practice, Schoenheimer explores how images create meaning. Working in expanded formats that combine observation, abstraction, text and assemblage, she often develops multiple responses to the same subject, inviting viewers to consider how visual language shapes understanding.
Interwoven with her paintings, Schoenheimer’s assemblages transform painted timber offcuts and found objects into abstract constructions that celebrate material play, colour and form while referencing the visual language of 20th century modernism.
A former Leading Teacher with almost 40 years' experience in secondary Visual Arts education, Leigh has facilitated workshops for students, teachers and arts organisations throughout Queensland.
