Event description

Splicing the intimacy of acoustic music with the exhilarating energy of a modern rock ensemble, The Inadequates are very excited to be touring their highly anticipated debut album "Haven’t You Heard?" across the east coast of Australia. The boys are kicking off the tour with a home town show at the Knoll Studio on Tamborine Mountain, with support from local music legend Ryan Gittoes. This show will be packed with brand new music from the album, and at this stage looks like it could be one of the last events ever held at the Knoll, so make sure to get along to this gig of firsts and lasts.

If You Haven’t Heard of them before (see what we did there?): The Inadequates are a high-energy acoustic trio that is growing rapidly within the Australian folk scene. Known for their bright suits and huge sound, they have been pushing the limits of their acoustic instruments at many different festivals across the country, and now at long last, they have something to show for it.

The boys release their highly anticipated debut record "Haven’t You Heard?" August 28th, and are thrilled to showcase the material they have been developing for the last few years on their debut headline tour. The 12-song album features all of the hallmarks of the Inadequates’ sound: tight 3 part harmonies, highly arranged and technically demanding instrumental work, paired with wrenching songwriting and the slamming energy that has earned them comparisons to more rock bands than acoustic ones.

Alongside the music, the band has a new look: their signature bright suits have now been custom embroidered, showing that the boys have been working just as hard behind their instruments as they have been behind their Singer EM9305 Embroidery Machine. Yes, the embroidery was done by them, and yes, it was so much harder than it looks. Sewing machine repair technicians get 50% off. They deserve it.

Get your tickets now - if not for the music, then do it for the embroidery.

There’s an easy swagger to Ryan Gittoes when he walks on stage — the kind that comes from years in the game and songs lived, not just written. Founder of The Knoll Studio and a fixture in bands like The Lamplights and The Brothers Calling, Gittoes has the awards to back it up, with Australian Songwriting wins at both state and national level. But it’s in his solo work where the guard drops — just soulful rhythm guitar, warm vocals, and stories that feel like they were written for you alone. On August 30, he opens for The Inadequates, proving that sometimes the simplest sets hit the hardest.
