The Government is exploring whether a biodiversity credit system could help to incentivise positive action for native habitats and wildlife in Aotearoa New Zealand. Public consultation is open from 7 July to 3 November 2023.

The Ministry for the Environment (MfE) and Department of Conservation (DOC) are seeking feedback on the need for, and the design of, a biodiversity credit system, and the different roles of government and Māori in implementing it.

As part of the consultation, a series of sector-specific webinars are being held. These webinars are an opportunity to: share information on what the Government is doing in this space, hear sector perspectives and ask questions about the potential for a biodiversity credit system.

    Speakers:

    • Mike Jebson, Engagement lead, Southern Falcon Consulting
    • Andrew Marshall, Project lead & Principle Advisor, Ministry for the Environment
    • Cameron Loader, Senior Policy Advisor, Department of Conservation

There will be plenty of time for questions.
