Introduction to Supported Decision Making
This workshop is designed to explore the fundamental principles of Supported Decision Making and its crucial role in empowering individuals, particularly those with Down syndrome, to make their own informed decisions.Â

There will be ample time for discussion, reflection, and sharing of experiences, allowing attendees to deepen their understanding and consider how they can apply SDM in their own contexts.
3 key topics that will be covered.

- The importance of Supported Decision Making for individuals
- How supports can effectively promote Supported Decision Making
This workshop is typically designed for people with Down syndrome, their families, carers, educators, and professionals who support individuals with Down syndrome and are interested in fostering a more empowering decision-making environment.
SPEAKER - Tara Shekede
Tara is the founder of Me Plus More, mum of 3 young boys and 2 fish. Tara has a bachelor’s degree in applied science and a master’s degree in international public health.
Tara has worked in a range of disability services in various roles over the past 15 years.
As the years went by, she noticed there is a lack of easily accessible online services for people wishing to learn independent living skills. There was also an unfortunate lack of tools and training provided to staff in paid support roles.
These gaps were her inspiration for creating Me Plus More.
Me Plus More is built on the foundation that everyone has the right to work towards their independence and have access to the appropriate tools to do so.
