What is Australia’s Disability Strategy?
Australia’s Disability Strategy 2021–2031 (ADS) is a national framework that all Australian governments have signed up to. It sets out a plan for continuing to improve the lives of people with disability in Australia over 10 years.
The topics for the Forums are linked to the Australia’s Disability Strategy (ADS) 7 outcome areas:
Employment and financial security
Inclusive homes and communities
Safety, rights and justice
Personal and community support
Education and learning
Health and wellbeing
Community attitudes
This online forum will focus on employment and financial security, which are central to improving outcomes for people with disability. This includes providing jobs and career opportunities and having adequate income for people to meet their needs. We want to hear from people with disability about how they have created roles and employment for themselves and other experts on this topic as we discuss the priority areas of:
increasing employment of people with disability
improving the transition of young people with disability from education to employment
strengthening the financial independence of people with disability.
