    Event description

Since April 2022, HVGS has been working with Dr Eeqbal Hassim on inclusion and belonging at the School using the Intercultural Development Continuum (IDC) to review current practice and set targets for the future.

I would like to invite all HVGS parents for a dialogue about inclusion and belonging on Tuesday 20th June at 6pm in the HVGS Lecture Theatre. Dr Hassim will lead this session and will share more about the IDC and how we are using it at HVGS to help us tackle complex issues of diversity and difference (including racism, neurodiversity, gender diversity and equity, and language diversity).

In our Strategic Plan, Future Directions, Inclusion and Belonging is a dedicated Strategic Priority Area, reflecting our overarching goal and commitment to building the systems and structures that ensure everyone is cared for, valued, and recognised for their unique identities and experiences. This involves building and sustaining a strong culture of trust and shared ownership for the flourishing of students and staff.

    This includes:

    · Building a culture of inclusion and agency, where all voices are valued.

    · Ensuring systems and structures are fit for purpose in supporting diverse learners and staff in the HVGS community and move the school along the intercultural development continuum.

    · Building the intercultural competencies of staff, students, and parents.

    · Creating a whole school approach to wellbeing.

    · Generating and sustaining authentic and respectful opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education across the School.

I hope to see you there
