Inclusive Design
Course synopsis:
In this course, attendees will learn:
- inclusive design concepts and theory
- what a disability is and how it relates to inclusive design
- evidence-based accessible design patterns
- how to conduct an inclusive design review
Who this course is for:
The course is aimed at user experience designers, user experience researchers, user-interface designers, and product designers.
What to expect and prepare:
The training sessions are live and interactive. Each attendee requires access to a desktop or laptop computer with a good internet connection and a headset or microphone and speakers. Instructions for Zoom will be sent with the invitation. You will receive access to a copy of the module slides weekly, before each training session.

Module 2: Inclusive design patterns
- Designing for vision loss
- Use of colour
- Typography and text layout
- Designing for screen magnifier users
- Designing for screen reader users
Module 3: Inclusive design patterns, designing for:
- Hearing loss
- Speech loss
- Cognitive and learning
- Physical and motor
- Mental health
Module 4: Application and methodology
- Conduct an inclusive design review
- Inclusive methodology
- Bringing inclusive design back to your workplace

You will be provided with a copy of the module slides and a list of resources for further reading.

Cost and Inclusions
Price listed is per person, including GST.

- $635 (group booking over 4 attendees)
Cancellations
You may only cancel your registration by written notice to digitalaccess@visionaustralia.org. If notification of cancellation is received by Vision Australia: (i) more than 14 days prior to the event, a full refund of your registration fees, less an administration fee of $16.95, will be provided; (ii) between 7 and 14 days prior to the event, a refund of 50% of your registration fees, less an administration fee of $16.95, will be provided; (iii) less than 7 days prior to the event, registration fees will not be refunded.
