This 24-hour workshop aims to build reflection and dialogue, as well as expand your skillset for inclusive teaching and learning. We will be discussing pedagogical approaches and inclusive teaching practices such as Universal Design for Learning, and participants will get a chance to practice and receive peer feedback on facilitating inclusive conversations and learning activities. As a participant in these sessions, you will walk away with your own positionality statement, new strategies and design for inclusive teaching, as well as practical experience in inclusive teaching.
By the end of this workshop participants will be able to
Critically reflect on own assumptions, biases and beliefs through varied positionality practices.
Implement opportunities in your own course material to create space for inclusive teaching practices
Practice facilitating inclusive conversations/classroom dialogue/learning activities on identity, power and privilege/inclusive of students
This workshop qualifies as an elective for the Certificate in University Teaching and Learning (CUTL) for those participants who are interested in completing the certificate. Contact the facilitator for details on how to earn credit.
