Waverley Council and Family Planning Australia are hosting an Inclusive Speed Dating Event.
This event is for adults with intellectual disability.
Inclusive Speed Dating
Would you like to meet new people?
Come along for a fun and friendly night.
You could make a new friend.
You could meet someone special.
Or you could just come along and have fun!
What will happen?
You will meet different people.
You will have a short chat with each person.
Each chat will last about 5 minutes.
We will have easy questions to help you start talking.
Then you will meet someone new!
Be yourself
You do not have to be good at dating.
You do not have to know what to say.
It is okay to feel nervous.
Our friendly team will be there to help you.
You can choose
After the event, you can tell us if you would like to talk to someone again.
You can say YES or NO.
It is your choice.
If you both say YES, we can help you to connect.
1 free alcoholic / non-alcoholic drink and nibbles included in the ticket registration.

This is a speed dating event.
We want everyone to feel safe, welcome and respected.
Be kind and respectful to other people.
Inappropriate behaviour will not be accepted.
When you buy a ticket, you are saying that you are open to meeting someone and making a connection.

- How does speed dating work?
Speed dating is like having many mini dates in one night.
You will:
· Meet someone new.
· Have a friendly chat.
· Talk for a set amount of time.
· Move to the next person.
· Meet and chat with more people.
At the end, you can choose if there is someone you would like to get to know better.
If you both choose each other, we will share your contact details so you can decide if you would like to arrange another date.
- How can I make a good impression?
The best way to make a good impression is to:
· Be yourself
· Listen to the other person
· Ask questions
· Be kind and respectful
· Have fun!
If you are worried about talking about yourself or finding things you have in common, don’t worry.
We are running 3 free workshops to help you get ready for speed dating.
- What if I don’t know what to say?
Don’t worry!
There will be conversation cards on the tables.
The cards will have ideas to help you start a conversation.
For example:
· What is your favourite animal?
· What music do you like?
· What is your favourite food?
You don’t have to use the cards if you don’t want to.
- What should I wear?
The dress code is smart casual.
Wear something that makes you feel comfortable and confident.
You could wear something you would wear:
· On a first date
· To dinner
· To a nice event
You can wear a:
· Dress
· Button-up shirt
· Nice top
Wear what feels right for you!
- Photos and videos
Photos and videos will be taken at the event.
We may use these photos and videos to promote our events.
They may be used on:
· Social media
· Websites
· Other advertising
If you have any concerns about photos or videos, please talk to one of our team members at the event.
We will do our best to respect your wishes.
Please remember that we cannot always guarantee that you will not appear in the background of a photo or video.

The venue is wheelchair accessible.
The workshops and speed dating event will be on the ground floor.
There will also be a sensory and chill-out area available during the event.
This is a quiet space where you can take a break if you need one.
If you have any other accessibility needs or questions, please contact us before the event.
- Tickets
I registered for a ticket but can’t come anymore.
If you find out that you cannot come, please let us know as soon as possible.
This means we can offer your place to someone on the waiting list.
