Event description
HOME COURT is the coming-of-age story of Ashley Chea, a Cambodian American basketball prodigy in Southern California whose life intensifies as recruitment heats up. As she overcomes injury as well as racial and class differences between her home and private school worlds, in peer groups, and against rival schools, Ashley strives to become her own person and leave a legacy behind.
A panel discussion follows the 60-minute film featuring Arnika Edwards (M.Ed, MBA, Stony Brook University, Assistant Athletics Director of Student Athletes, Career and Leadership Development) and Coach Kelly Dempsey (Making Waves in Women's Basketball, Level Up LI Girls Director, Hicksville Girls Varsity Basketball Head Coach).
HOME COURT is a free screening from the Indie Lens Pop-Up series co-hosted by Greater Port Jefferson Arts Council and Long Island Museum. The screening is located in the Gillespie Room of the Carriage Museum. (Bring a sweater or light jacket for comfort)
