Afro-Cuban folkloric prayers sung in Luxe Vocal Harmonies, Brazilian guitar and ancient Rhythm of the Saints pre-dating the Trans-Atlantic Slave trade transport the here and now to then, unfolding in a wealth of fine musicianship and devotion to the preservation of Indigenous Culture.
Featuring covers of beloved Brazilian legends Djavan, Timbalada and the Tribalistas, as well as contemporary Afro-Cuban artists Los Ibeyis and Dayome Arocena. Interspersed with original songs and Prayers to the Orishas. Papa Eleggua the God of the CrossRoads who holds all the keys of fate and destiny, Yemaya the Goddess of the Ocean and Motherhood, and Chango the God of Lightning and Thunder, Drums and Virility.
Introducing Cindia Luz on lead vocals and percussion, who has played with the Legendary Roots Crew, Ricki Martin, Seal and Delta Goodrem on The Australian Voice, The Tapdogs, Hed Kandi, Tijuana Cartel, OKA, Declan Kelly and the Rising Sun and Matanza Latin Jazz.
The ‘gratitude’ highlight of Cindia’s musical journey was to charity-raise the money to donate drums and teach kids in Cambodia who were survivors of human trafficking. Cindia studied percussion with Pellito el Afrokaan (Cuba), Eguie Castrillo (Berklee Percussion, Boston), and Papillon Alvarez (New York). She studied and played Havana legends Lucumi, Maximino, Lazaro 'Fimba’ Moliner’, clapped clave and sang choro for countless ceremonies with Los Guiros de San Cristobal. With her connection to her Padrino and Maestro Dominic Kirk in Sydney, as well as her spiritual family in Cuba, Cindia continues to learn and study, attend tambor, bembe, guiro and yuka ceremonies in her reality, heart and mind for all time.
Featuring Byron Luiters on Bass, beloved, admired and respected by musicians everywhere - best known as the bass guitarist for the John Butler Trio, a Message from the Sun, and the Ray Mann Three.
Featuring Fernando Aragones on guitar, Southern Brazilian Byron-based singer-song-writer and lead man for Animal Ventura, who recently teamed up with Grant Gerraghty (John Butler Trio, Ray Mann Three, Pete Murray) to produce and record “All the Love We Knew”, released in 2021.
Featuring Shelly Brown on vocals and percussion. Raised by sailors & aviators on a steady diet of singing around the family table, Shelly Brown was accustomed to Aussie folk & sea shanty’s from the get-go. Shelly also performs her original music, has performed for overseas tours, independent albums, house concerts, pandemics & a house flood; She has a passion for leading vocal workshops to warm the soul, not to mention her singing podcast; “Singing Lessons For No One” which sports 65k plays!
Featuring Nat Carey aka Valentina Brave on vocals and percussion, who shared the stage with global luminaries Michael Franti, Jackson Browne and Juanes at Byron Bay Blues Festival and also worked with Mama-Kin Tender to produce her EP Wildflower. “Valentina Brave steps forward as an artist carrying the same emotive connection to her music as Florence + The Machine’.
