Join Merri-bek BUG as we head north to visit the Westmeadows Indigenous Community Garden and Aunty Jo Russell for a Bush Tucker Walk n Talk.Â
One of Hume's four community gardens, Westmeadows Indigenous Community Garden invites enthusiastic community members to plant and harvest fresh, healthy, and seasonal produce and connect over heritage fruit trees, bush tucker and real food.Â
Aunty Jo Russell is a Hume Elder, proud Wiradyuri woman and committed to spreading the message about what respecting Country should mean to all of us. This includes taking visitors on an exploration of bush food and fibre plants at the Westmeadows Indigenous Community Gardens to teach the best way to use and live off our native land.Â
BYO picnic lunch to be enjoyed at the Garden after Aunty Jo's talk.Â
This ride is aproximatly 15kms each way with most of the route on bike paths. You will need to be comfortable with riding on roads in traffic for part of the way.Â
