Event description

Following the Disability Research Network Showcase 2025, we invite you to attend this special presentation by Dr. John Ward. Taking place at 3 PM in CB11.00.401, Dr. Ward will delve into how disabilities are understood, taught, and lived across different Indigenous communities. He will share insights from his book, Indigenous Disability Studies, which features contributions from 38 Indigenous groups in 20 countries.

Dr. Ward will guide attendees using the Medicine Wheel and Two-Eyed Seeing approach, offering a holistic view of disability teaching as both a methodology and a life system. This session is a chance to expand your knowledge of Indigenous disability studies, learn about the lived experiences of Indigenous people, and engage with a leader in the field.
