Indigenous Dreaming Workshop: Indigenous Food & Indigenous Youth
Description
Join Pacific Powered Peoples as we host our second Indigenous Dreaming workshop! This will be an afternoon of interactive talanoa, a look at Maramataka, good kai and an infusion of pacific ingenuity hosted by Destiny Harris and Niko Iomano from Pacific Vision Aotearoa and Manurewa Youth Council.
This workshop is a deep dive on how Samoan and Māori communities maintain cultural power through their connection with food.
Pacific Powered Peoples 'Indigenous Dreaming' series are monthly table talks about the energy system here in Aotearoa hosted by different Pacific community leaders. Every session begins sharing cultural stories and practices to show us what collective dreaming can look like for us as Pacific Peoples in Tāmaki Makaurau.
Then, we go into community storytelling. Participants are broken up in smaller groups to keep crafting, eating, and sharing stories about our everyday life in Aotearoa to build a movement empowering Pacific energy wellbeing.
This is a free event with food and resources provided. Just come as yourself!
When: 31st of October 2026 11:30am-2pm
Where: Te Manawa Library, 11 Kohuhu Lane, Westgate, Auckland 0814
