La Trobe Rural Health School and the School of Education invites you to the "Billabongs not Silos" Education and Wellbeing Symposium, a special event dedicated to showcasing excellence in social and emotional wellbeing for First Nations children and youth. This event will be held at the Ironbark Centre, La Trobe University Bendigo Campus, on Thursday, November 28th, 2024.

We invite you to attend and contribute to this event by presenting the outstanding work you or your organisation are doing to support the health, education, and wellbeing of First Nations youth. The event will focus on the intersection of education and health, highlighting holistic and strength-based practices that enhance collaboration and Community.

Event Highlights:

  • Facilitated Yarning Circles: A space for sharing stories, insights, and best practices.
  • Impact Showcase: Public presentations on Indigenous excellence in education and wellbeing.
  • Keynote Address: Join Eddie Bett’s as he reflects on achieving excellence as a leader, footballer, media commentator and author. Through highs and lows, Eddie shares his story, the importance of education to a positive future, and continuing the work of the Eddie Betts Foundation.

Event Structure:

  • 9:30 AM - 10:00 AM: Arrival, Smoking & Welcome to Country (Ironbark Centre)
  • 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM: Indigenous Excellence: Health and Wellbeing in Education (Facilitated Yarning Circles)
  • 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM: Lunch
  • 1:30 PM - 4:00 PM: Impact Showcase: Billabongs not Silos for Wellbeing and Education
  • 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM: Afternoon Tea & Networking
  • 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM: Indigenous Excellence Keynote Address (La Trobe Gallery Space)
