Indigenous Plant ID at Glenbervie Station

Join us for a mini tour of the station gardens to learn about some of the indigenous and native plants that feature in our grassland and woody meadow habitat. 

Hosted by the Glenbervie Station Volunteers and led by volunteer and local resident, Rowena, this session begins with a fascinating talk about north Melbourne's indigenous plants, why they’re so important, and how you can grow them in your own nature strip and garden to support the creation of natural habitat and green corridors throughout our local environment.

The tour will introduce you to the wide variety of indigenous grasses, shrubs, flowers and climbers in our gardens, helping you to identify them and understand which plants are best suited to your own garden.  

As an attendee, you will be given two indigenous plants to take away to get your own indigenous garden started. You’ll also be invited to stick around for morning tea to talk about all things green and get to know some of the volunteers who have driven the revegetation at Glenbervie Station.

PLANTS OF GLENBERVIE COMPETITION

We are also running a ‘Plants of Glenbervie Station’ colouring-in competition where you can win a $50 voucher from Victorian Indigenous Nursery Co-operative (VINC) through an artistic exploration of the station’s plants. Pick up a physical colouring-in sheet on the day or access the digital version via the submission form now (physical submissions are also welcome on the day). Entries close on Sunday, October 25.
