Description

Information session: Khapra beetle draft report - Part 1

The draft report for the pest risk analysis for khapra beetle (Trogoderma granarium) – Part 1 was released on 27 November 2025.

We invite stakeholders to comment on the draft report during the public consultation period, which closes 5pm (AEDT) on 27 February 2026.

Online information sessions

As part of the consultation, we are hosting 2 online information sessions via Microsoft Teams Live Event. Both sessions will provide an overview of the draft report and offer an opportunity to ask questions. The content will be the same across both sessions.

Who will be affected by the proposed measures?

The draft report proposes ongoing risk management measures for plant products. These measures are largely consistent with the existing khapra beetle emergency measures. They apply to a range of stakeholders including travellers, importers, offshore treatment providers, trading partners, peak industry bodies (cargo, seeds, organic and plant products) and domestic research institutions.
