A short course to give you the tools to advocate effectively for your organisation or community group.

What’s it about?

Speaking up in Wales’s political spaces can feel overwhelming — but it doesn’t have to be.

Following the Senedd election this May, significant changes have been introduced to the way politics is done in Wales, including updates to how representatives are elected and how the Senedd carries out its work.

This intermediate‑level session gives you the tools and confidence to influence decisions that matter to your organisation or community. You’ll learn how to engage with the Welsh government and the Senedd under the new system, and get practical tips on making your case effectively.

It’s designed for people who already have a basic understanding of devolution and how Wales’s political systems work. You can take it on its own or as a follow on from our introductory session on Tuesday 19 January.

What you’ll learn

By the end of the course, you’ll have a clear understanding of:

• How to engage with the Welsh government in meaningful and strategic ways

• The role of the Senedd and how to contribute to its work

• What works best when trying to influence laws, policies or public spending

• What’s new in the post‑election political landscape and how it affects influencing routes.

Who should attend

The course will be of interest to anyone who needs to understand how decisions are made in Wales, including:

• People working in media, communications, public affairs or campaigning

• Staff in charities, businesses or public services

• Anyone working in or with government or agencies who wants to understand the bigger picture.

Cost

The course can be booked as a stand-alone session or as a bundle with the introductory course.

Single session:

• Subscriber special: £65 (plus booking fee)

• Standard: £90 (plus booking fee)

Bundle:

• Subscriber special: £110 (plus booking fee)

• Standard: £160 (plus booking fee)
