Changes to khapra beetle treatments for imports to Australia – what you must know to comply
Event description
Changes to khapra beetle treatments for imports to Australia - what you must know to comply
We are hosting two online information sessions to update you on mandatory changes to Australia’s khapra beetle treatment and certification requirements for imported plant products. If you are involved in the import of rice, beans, dried chilli, and whole cumin and coriander seed from a khapra beetle target risk country, this is essential for you.
What the sessions will cover
Both sessions will cover the treatment and certification requirements for high-risk plant products and containers subject to offshore khapra beetle treatments and the upcoming changes.
SESSION 1: Offshore treatment providers and government bodies (NPPOs*)
- The focus is on how treatments must be applied to comply with updated requirements and why this is necessary. This includes packaging of plant products, supervision obligations for certain treatment providers, and the associated phytosanitary declarations.
* National Plant Protection Organisations
SESSION 2: Australian importers and brokers
- The focus is on the key changes to import conditions, the reasons behind them, and their impact on your import supply chains. The session will outline the actions you need to take to stay compliant.
There will be an opportunity to ask questions during each session.
