A Conversation on Solo Parenting: Webinar
Description
When you are a solo parent raising a child with disability, so much rests on your shoulders. You are the one responsible for appointments, advocacy, decisions, and daily care. Carrying all of this on your own can be exhausting.
Parents Olivia and Sarah will share how they handle different parts of parenting on their own. In this honest conversation, they will talk about the practical and emotional demands of being a solo parent, and what can help lighten the load.
In this webinar we’ll explore:
Managing caring responsibilities and the demands of daily life
What can help during times of isolation
Finding trusted people and building a support network
Asking for and accepting help without guilt or shame
Finding small ways to care for yourself when stepping away is not possible.

Olivia Hamilton
Olivia is a solo parent of three children living in regional New South Wales. She homeschools her two youngest children, who are Autistic. Olivia understands how isolating it can feel to raise children with disability in a regional community. She is passionate about letting families know that connection and support are possible, and that they do not have to do everything on their own.

Sarah Esar
Sarah is a solo parent of two children, one of whom is Autistic. She lives in the city and comes from a proud culturally and linguistically diverse background. Sarah loves being part of her community and creating strong connections around her family. She has coached her children’s soccer team and values the sense of belonging that comes from being involved. For Sarah, community is an important part of helping her children feel supported, included and proud of who they are.
