Inland Lake

Event description

Inland Lake is a long form composition by French music concréte artist, Lionel Marchetti. It features acoustic instruments alongside a detailed recorded part, that Marchetti calls a 'partition concerete': it is both the score for the musicians as well as a part in the ensemble.

Composed in 2019, this 40 minute work could be described as 'electroacoustic ambient' - this is music threads and weaves between flute, clarinet, cello, viola and percussion and the sensuous sounds of Marchetti's recording. This performance features the premiere of the film for Inland Lake by Karl Ockelford, shown during the performance. It is the Melbourne premiere of this work.

"spellbinding, revelatory listening" Thom Puton, The Reviews Hub, UK.

“deeply thoughtful musical poetry” Rosalind Appleby, SeeSaw Magazine, Australia
