Travel instructions

Petersham Town Hall is 280m 5 min walk from Petersham Station. Petersham Station has wheelchair ramp boarding assistance, a hearing loop PA system for announcements, platform edge tactiles, stairs and a lift as well as wheelchair accessible car space and wheelchair accessible toilet, taxi rank and emergency help point. The area is serviced by many bus routes, 445, 412, 461X, 428, 480 Please check Transport NSW Trip Planner where you can search for Accessible Services Only. There is a car park opposite Petersham Town Hall at Petersham Service Centre on Fisher St, that will have plenty of spaces in the evening and also 2 dedicated accessible parking bays. There is 20 steps to cross the road but it is a busy road so we recommend taking 90 steps and crossing at the traffic lights. There is another accessible parking bay on Frederick Street where there will be a traffic management attendant. There will be a drop off Zone on Frederick Street which is the main event entrance (side entrance) for Petersham Town Hall where there is then a ramp or 1 step.

Entry instructions

Option 1 - Main Entrance for the event is from Frederick St on the side of Petersham Town Hall. There will be a Drop off Zone on Frederick Street from where there is a ramp or 1 step. There will be a traffic management attendant there for safety. There will then be twenty steps to the main event space with a variety of seating options, signs and a team to assist if needed. Option 2 - Enter from the front of Petersham Town Hall from Crystal Street, there is 3 steps and then 40 steps to the main event space.

After entry instructions

Take either 20 steps (from Frederick St) or 40 steps (from Crystal St) to the main event space in the Town Hall where you will find a range of seating options. There will be some high tables and high chairs at the back of the hall. There will be lower tables and lower chairs, in the middle of the room. There will also be bean bags at the front of the hall near the stage. There will be tables from where food and drinks will be served by attendants. There will be wide corridors and spaces. There will be signs and our team members there if assistance is required.

Hazards

Crystal Street is a busy road, there may be loud traffic noise out the front. There may be a crowd. There will lights and music. Some spaces may be low light.

Toilet location

As you enter from Frederick Street toilets are on the opposite side of the building about 40 steps. The accessible toilets are to the right adjacent to the hall. There will be signs in large print and team members to direct you. As you enter from Crystal Street the toilets are on your left, some are about 40 steps ahead and the accessible toilets are a further 10 steps. The accessible toilets are wheelchair accessible with a left hand rail.

Wheelchair Ramps

Dimensions: Adhere to Australian Standards AS1428.1 - ramps should have a maximum gradient of 1:12 (8.33%) and a minimum width of 1400mm. Surface: Non-slip surface to prevent accidents. Handrails: Provide sturdy handrails on both sides of the ramp.
